Guest commentary by Sarah Yaussi

Sarah Yaussi is a business journalist and editor of Big Builder magazine. Prior to joining Big Builder in early 2005, she worked for both The Post-Standard in Syracuse, N.Y., and the BBC in London.
This past spring I was invited to present, along with Carol Flammer of mRELEVANCE, Carol Ruiz of red rocket LA, and Big Builder’s editorial director John McManus, on social media and what it means for home builders during the Urban Land Institute’s spring council meetings in Atlanta. As I mentioned in a past blog or two, the presentation turned out to be a real conversation starter. People were so interested in—and skeptical of—social media and its role and ultimate value to the residential real estate industry that we really never got through our presentation in its entirety. The dialogue and debate continued after the meetings had concluded as people met for drinks and dinner.
In fact, word of it reached people who weren’t even in attendance. I had a few people contact me, saying that they’d like to get their hands on the presentation because they had heard it was the talk of the town—or at least the blue and gold councils. So, recently, we got the band back together again, so to speak, and the two Carols and I recorded an updated version of the presentation.
The skinny on the program, which you can check out here, is that it’s an exciting 45-minute Webinar dedicated to helping home builders navigate the wild, wild world of Web 2.0. No matter whether you’re a home builder who’s a social media newbie or ace, you’ll gain invaluable insight into developing successful social media strategies through real-life examples and practical tips for ensuring your own success. Enjoy!
